Adult Dinner

I can see from many of the "Top 5" picks that have been posted is a night out adult dinner. Now the big question is where do people want to go. So lets post up some ideas of what and where people would like to eat.

Melting Pot - Shauna - is this any good?
Those are my thoughts right now. Haven't looked up other places yet.

  3. I've wanted to try Ruth Chris. I've never been to the melting pot, it is expensive I hear, but a real experience for you palate. http://www.meltingpot.com/locations.aspx?z=85213&n=556131

I've looked at a couple of reviews and here are a few below for places in the valley:
Harley's Italian (5 stars by critic, 3.5 user)
    Coup De Tarte (5, 3) http://www.nicetartes.com/
    Frank & Alberts (5,4)http://frankandalberts.com/
    House of Tricks (4,4) http://www.houseoftricks.com/site/
    Atlas Bistro (5,4.5) http://www.azeats.com/atlasbistro/
    Cafe Boa (4,5) http://www.caffeboa.com/

    What do you think?

  4. OK, lets get serious about a place that we want to go to for this. Most dont want to spend over $50 so Im assuming thats the limit of what we are looking for per person. So what kind of food do we want to eat? Are we still looking for steak houses, or do we want to go pizza, or something else?

If we decide soon, we can get reservations that we want and maybe even find some coupons or specials to try to knock down some of the price.

  5. Between $20 and $30 per person is more like I was thinking. Has anyone been to Papadeaux (sp) off of the 17? Twiz and I have been once or twice

  6. I don't want to do pizza for our adult dinner.

I looked at some on the restaurants Shauna listed. House of Tricks shows a picture of Obama on their website, so that place is definitely OUT!

Melting Pot sounds yummy (with some exotic flavors) but is pricey - from $82-$94 per couple. Not including any other stuff.

Caffe Boa in Ahwatukee sounds good http://www.caffeboa.com/. It's italian cuisine, and was named best restaurant in 2009 by CitySearch. I could do that one because it's something new.

Pappadeaux is Cajun style seafood. I think Mom & Dad have been there with me before http://www.pappadeaux.com/home/

  7. Caffe Boa is probably the best on that list and that Kobe Beef Burger has my eye, as long as it's not $texas (which I'm sure it is). The menu even says ORGANIC!!! Melting Pot looks very yuppity Snottsdale-ish, regardless of price. I also don't think that place accepts 15 year old T100 pickup trucks in their parking lot.

I still vote for some fine dining at Five Guys. You'll probably like the food there better than any of these fancy shmancy places and we'd have a great time with great music (yes, the music is awesome there), but I'm just a simple man with simple tastes.

  8. I remember going to Pappadeaux's a while back. Maybe it was when Lachelle graduated from DeVry? I dunno, but that Cafe Boa sounds good.

  9. Mark says: Yeah, like Danny I'm not into the schmancy either. Unless you're getting, oh I don't know, great all-you-can-eat barbequed meat or something (http://www.brazilianbullsteakhouse.com/) paying more than $30 a plate is just vanity. The food's really not THAT good.

There are plenty of places around town where you can get a fabulous dish in the $15-25 range. Christo's in Phoenix was a great experience. I've also heart good things about Tutti Santi in Mesa. Both those places are owned and operated by Italians.
